Driver evading charge, sparks chase in NW Harris County before crash and arrest, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Deputies are investigating a chase that caused a crash in northwest Harris County, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's office said a deputy was observing an intersection when a driver rolled his windows as he passed the deputy.

HCSO said the deputy found it suspicious, conducted a registration search, and found the driver had been evading a motor vehicle charge.

Authorities said the deputy tried to make contact, but the driver fled, leading to a 13-minute-long chase that spanned 6 miles and ended on Jones Road near Fallbrook.

During the chase, the suspect crashed into another vehicle and continued on foot before running out of energy and giving up. He was then taken into custody, HCSO said.

According to the sheriff's office, no one was hurt.

The sheriff's office said the driver is now facing several additional charges.

The incident is still under investigation.
